Our personal injury department is here to make things easier for you.

What Is A Personal Injury Claim?

“Personal injury” is the legal term for an injury or illness that has been caused (or made worse) by someone else’s negligence. If you’ve suffered in these circumstances you may be able to make a personal injury claim to recover compensation from those responsible.

What Types Of Personal Injury Can You Claim For?

Some of the common types of personal injury we help people claim for include:

- Road traffic accidents (including for pedestrians, cyclists and passengers)

- Accidents at work (including back and manual handling injuries)

- Industrial diseases (including hearing loss and respiratory problems and repetitive strain injuries)

- Accidents in public places (including claims against the council and slips, trips and falls)

- Dog Bite Claims

How Long Do You Have To Make A Claim?

For most types of personal injury claims, with a few exceptions, you have to make a claim for compensation within 3 years of the accident occurring. At the end of the 3 year limitation period, if you have not settled your claim, it will be necessary to issue proceedings at Court so that you do not become statute barred from making a claim.

In the case of child claims, the limitation period starts to run from the date of their 18th birthday and they must settle their claim or issue proceedings on or before their 21st birthday. After that time their claim will become statute barred and they will no longer be able to bring a claim.

Our advice is always to speak to us at the earliest opportunity if you think you may have a claim.

No Win No Fee Claims

A no win - no fee agreement is officially known as a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA). Under the terms of a CFA if you are unsuccessful with your claim you will not have to pay our costs. If we are successful with your claim then our costs and disbursements become payable. We are happy to discuss whether a CFA would be suitable for your case.

How Much Personal Injury Compensation Could You Receive?

The amount of compensation you could receive will be personal to you. Our personal injury specialists are experienced in valuing claims based on your particular circumstances, to ensure you get the compensation you deserve.
